Fund Accountant

I am leading the search for a growing real estate private equity firm based in downtown Toronto that is seeking a Fund Accountant to join their growing team. The Fund Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for our client's single-family rental joint ventures and for-sale housing commingled funds, including investor reporting and management analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare quarterly financial statements and working papers for joint ventures and funds, including assisting with the annual audit process on those financial statements
• Perform quarterly account reconciliations and analyses for accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany accounts, and expenses
• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries for transactions such as cash, debt, tax, management fees, and expenses
• Perform month-end closing procedures, including consolidations and eliminations
• Prepare funding calls and distributions to limited partners
• Setup wire and intercompany cash transfers, and perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare schedules for management and investor reports and ensure consistency between the reports and financial information
• Respond to investor queries promptly
• Liaise with investment team, developers, equity partners, lenders, and other external parties
• Assist with and/or lead special and ad hoc projects as necessary

Qualifications:

• University degree in Finance or Accounting
• Must be a CPA or on track to become a CPA
• 3+ years accounting experience
• Experience in private equity, funds management or financial services preferred
• Knowledge of US GAAP preferred
• Experience with consolidation and elimination entries an asset
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated with good work ethic and willingness to learn
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
