An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Corporate Accountant, Financial Reporting in the heart of Toronto. As a Senior Corporate Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in the overall efficacy of the accounting team, contributing to consolidated review and analysis, communicating financial results internally and externally, and ensuring adherence to company policies.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Corporate Accountant, Financial Reporting, you will be instrumental in updating quarterly and annual management discussions & analysis along with IFRS financial statements. You will assist in preparing supplemental reporting packages and board materials while also supporting the external audit process. Your role will involve coordinating analysis gathering across various accounting groups and monitoring report section completion. You will also be responsible for performing variance analysis for select financial statement line items. Your ability to prepare ad hoc reports and legal entity financial statements will be crucial. Furthermore, you will drive continuous improvement within your areas of responsibility while ensuring internal controls are always maintained.

  • Update quarterly and annual management discussion & analysis and IFRS financial statements, maintaining data integrity
  • Assist in preparation of supplemental reporting package, board materials and accompanying presentations
  • Support external audit process by providing necessary information
  • Coordinate analysis gathering across accounting groups, ensuring use of latest versions and update across reports
  • Monitor status of report section completion, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines
  • Perform variance analysis for select financial statement line items against prior year, prior quarter, budget, forecast etc.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as required by management
  • Prepare legal entity financial statements for tax return preparation
  • Drive continuous improvement within areas of responsibility, sharing ideas and best practices with team members
  • Ensure internal controls within areas of responsibility are maintained at all times

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Corporate Accountant, Financial Reporting role will bring a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA preferred) and a minimum of 3 years' experience with TSX listed companies. You will have a working knowledge of IFRS financial reporting and proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications. Experience with financial systems such as JDE, BI tools, Spreadsheet Server, Workiva etc. is highly desirable. Real Estate industry experience is preferred but not essential. You will possess strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills along with excellent attention to detail. Your ability to communicate high-level issues clearly and concisely will be key to your success in this role.

  • Recognised professional accounting designation (CPA, CA preferred)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proficiency with Financial systems (JDE, BI tools, Spreadsheet Server, Workiva etc.) is an asset
  • Real Estate industry experience (preferred)
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate high level issues in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and flexible while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with others, develop cooperative working relationships, and direct others in a team environment
