The Finance Manager will be a key member of the corporate team, reporting to the SVP. Located in Toronto, the role offers a unique opportunity to build a career with a prestigious asset management firm. The individual will play a crucial role in overseeing financial reporting and analysis for the company’s operations, collaborating with diverse teams to drive enhancements and efficiencies. Additionally, the role includes providing guidance to a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the consolidation and presentation of financial data for internal and external reporting on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Navigate complex accounting procedures and collaborate with various departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Spearhead the monthly financial close process, seeking out and implementing process improvements.
  • Supervise the preparation of journal entries and the accuracy of financial accruals.
  • Oversee the finance department’s involvement in shared services, including treasury and accounts payable.
  • Engage with various business units to support finance-related queries and initiatives.
  • Mentor junior staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, tools, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Manage and execute special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of experience in accounting or audit roles.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA).
  • Familiarity with IFRS reporting standards for public companies.
  • Proficient in financial software and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-driven with a focus on workload management and personal development.
  • Experience with financial software such as Microsoft Dynamics, HFM, or Workiva is beneficial.
