Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring strict adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and reconciliations. Collaborate closely with the finance and accounting team to swiftly address any month-end challenges.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws.
Foster a productive partnership with external auditors to spearhead the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
Provide oversight for accounts payable and receivable functions, securing punctual payments and collections. Implement and monitor robust controls and policies for purchase orders and invoicing.
Financial Analysis & Strategic Optimization:
Close collaboration with departmental heads to execute variance analyses, identify emerging trends, and spotlight crucial key performance indicators (KPIs) and prospects for enhancement.
Support the VP of Finance in the budgeting and forecasting process, contributing precise and insightful financial projections.
Control and monitor departmental expenditures, optimizing operational efficiency.
Implement inventory and cost accounting methodologies as well as deliver detailed analyses on gross margins, product lines, and obsolescence.
Manage the day-to-day operations of banking activities. Collaborate with the VP of Finance to forecast and optimize working capital.
Spearhead initiatives to automate and streamline finance and accounting procedures. Drive process enhancement projects, research endeavors, and training initiatives. Develop practical and effective policies and procedures.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging your expertise to make meaningful contributions.
Qualifications and Skills:
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
CPA or CA designation preferred.
7 years of progressive experience in financial management and reporting, ideally within the food & beverage manufacturing/CPG industry.
Profound comprehension of ASPE, IFRS, and US and Canadian corporate and sales tax regulations.
Demonstrated track record of leading month-end closures, year-end audits, process improvements, and financial performance enhancements.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
Proven experience with ERP systems and business intelligence software. Familiarity with Sage preferred.
Strong leadership and communication acumen, with the capacity to inspire and manage a team effectively.
