Our client is a global mining company headquartered in downtown Toronto. We are looking for an Internal Auditor who is experienced in working in SOX environment and knowledgeable about data analytic tools like PowerBI or ACL to join the team. In this role, you will assist with the evaluation of internal controls, participate in various projects, and support compliance reporting. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity, with a potential of progression to a Senior Internal Auditor.
Assisting in maintaining internal controls documentation including narratives and control matrices as well as helping with preparing annual risk assessment, scoping, and planning of internal controls program
Providing data analytic support to the team as needed for various projects
Partnering with external auditors and site managers to implement controls plan
Testing to asses the design and operating efficiency of internal controls and preparing written reports for the management
Assisting with follow-up reviews to ensure timely remediation of control gaps
Maintaining an effective working relationship with mine site management and staff
Assisting with performing internal audit projects and investigations
Ability to travel up to 30% (up to 2 week intervals)
CPA/equivalent foreign designation or working towards the designation (CFE must be passed)
At least 3 years of audit experience in public accounting or heavy industry (i.e. mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, infrastructure and engineering)
Experience in SOX environment
Experience with PowerBI or ACL
Solid understanding of the COSO & COBIT framework
Analytical and curious mindset, ability to evaluate and provide recommendations based on data
Ability to work with diverse stakeholders with strong verbal and written communication skills
Spanish and/or French language is an asset
