Our client is on the hunt for a dynamic and driven Assistant Vice President with investment fund and tax experience to join their Fund Operations group in Toronto. If you're passionate about the investment fund industry and have a keen eye for detail, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing monthly income distribution calculations for investment funds to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
• Overseeing the year-end capital gains distribution process, working closely with the fund administrator to ensure timely and accurate distribution of capital gains to investors.
• Assisting with drafting investment tax policy guidelines to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize tax efficiency for the investment funds.
• Coordinating tax slip production with fund administrator for mutual funds and ETFs, ensuring timely and accurate production of tax slips for investors.
• Reviewing annual tax returns for investment funds, including trusts, corporations, partnerships, and U.S. entities, to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize tax efficiency for the investment funds.
• Overseeing HST related matters, including calculation of provincial attribution rates and review of HST returns, to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize tax efficiency for the investment funds.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of investment fund operations experience, with a focus on tax, and a university degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA designation would be an asset, demonstrating a high level of technical knowledge and expertise in tax regulations and accounting principles.
• Solid knowledge of the investment fund industry and familiarity with various asset classes, including retail mutual fund trust, mutual fund corporations, flow-through LPs, exchange traded funds, offshore master-feeder structures, and hedge funds.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to interact at any level within and outside the organization, including portfolio managers, senior business leads, and executive management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions in a timely and effective manner.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
