We are partnered with one of Canada's largest, leading REIT companies looking for a Corporate Law Clerk to join their team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a busy & dynamic position within an inclusive team environment.

Responsibilities of a Corporate Law Clerk

• This position will play a key role in the Corporate Legal Team with responsibility for corporate & litigation file management on matters related to bankruptcy and insolvency, construction, environmental, insured claims management and leasing disputes.
• Communicate with external counsel to track quarterly legal costs and file status.
• Support in the development and preparation of quarterly litigation reports.
• Manage day-to-day insurance matters, including correspondence with broker, tracking, and processing claims, collecting evidence, maintaining records.
• Assist with evidence collection and document production.
• Assist with maintaining corporate entity database and reviewing/revising corporate entity maintenance materials, including reviewing draft annual returns, incorporations, amalgamations, amendments and dissolutions, extra-provincial registrations.
• Support in preparing for board and unitholder meetings and uploading materials for board meetings into Diligent.

Skills & Requirements of a Corporate Law Clerk

• A self-motivator with at least 5 years of experience in-house legal department or law firm.
• Legal Assistant/Law Clerk education and proficiency in corporate law and commercial litigation an asset.
• A team-player with excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and organisational skills with a well-developed ability to coordinate and manage multiple priorities.
• Pragmatic approach to problem solving and high level of attention to detail.
