An exceptional opportunity awaits for a Senior Accountant to join a globally respected organisation in Toronto, where your expertise will directly contribute to shaping a better world. This role offers you the chance to be part of an extraordinary collective that values individuality, encourages knowledge sharing, and fosters a truly inclusive environment.

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in statutory reporting and financial statement preparation, collaborating with colleagues across North America and internationally. Your work will have meaningful impact not only on business operations but also on the communities served by this forward-thinking organisation. If you are seeking a position where your skills are valued, your voice is heard, and your career can flourish within a supportive network, this is the perfect next step.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare annual financial statements and note disclosures in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or local GAAP as required by statutory regulations.
  • Manage day-to-day activities related to audit deliverables while ensuring all allocated audit requests are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Build and maintain detailed audit documentation of financial reporting processes and internal controls, including workflows, sources of information, frequency, and purpose.
  • Document end-to-end processes comprehensively to ensure clarity and compliance across all areas of responsibility.
  • Provide ad hoc support on company projects and initiatives as needed, contributing valuable insights to cross-functional teams.
  • Assist in overseeing the statutory Work In Progress (WIP) process from business units through to auditors, ensuring transparency and accuracy at every stage.
  • Support the implementation and oversight of robust internal controls within designated areas of responsibility to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with finance business partners, shared services teams abroad, and project management teams in Canada and the US to identify process improvements.
  • Review and analyse supporting schedules from other departments that impact financial statement production, seeking ways to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Act as a dependable resource for audit-related queries by providing timely responses to requests from auditors.

What you bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or economics is essential for this position as it provides the foundational knowledge required for success.
  • A qualified CPA designation or equivalent certification is mandatory to demonstrate advanced understanding of accounting principles.
  • At least four years of relevant professional experience in accounting or finance is necessary to ensure readiness for complex responsibilities.
  • Technical expertise in financial reporting environments—including statutory accounting—is highly valued for this role.
  • Proven ability to apply appropriate accounting principles when faced with new scenarios or transactions is crucial for effective problem-solving.
  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications—particularly Excel and Word—is expected for efficient data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning solutions such as SAP, Oracle, JDE or SAAS applications is preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with an inquisitive mindset enables thorough review of financial data and identification of process improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital for clear interaction with auditors, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills support effective evaluation of complex financial information within an agile business environment.
