Corporate Counsel - Commercial & Regulatory

Our client, a leading retailer in North America, is seeking two Corporate Counsels for their Commercial & Regulatory group. Based in Mississauga, this full-time role offers the chance to support multiple business units such as financial services, ecommerce, transportation, marketing and technology.

Based in Toronto, this full-time role offers the chance to support multiple business units such as financial services, ecommerce, transportation, marketing and technology.

What you'll do:

• Support multiple business units including financial services, ecommerce, transportation, marketing and technology
• Lead the negotiation of strategic commercial transactions
• Provide advice in complex regulatory areas such as financial services, consumer protection and privacy
• Identify risks and manage potential legal and regulatory issues
• Educate and train on legal requirements within the business in partnership with stakeholders
• Manage external counsel across Canada
• Identify and implement efficient ways of working both within and outside the legal department

What you bring:

• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of corporate/regulatory experience at an in-house legal department or leading law firm
• Member in good standing with the Ontario or British Columbia Law Society
• Ability to lead complex transactions and communicate practical legal advice to all levels of the company including senior management
• Experience working on financial services, consumer protection and privacy/data governance matters would be an asset
• Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills
