Pay Expectations and Career Movements in the Canadian Workforce
Over half (56%) of the Canadian workforce is anticipating a pay raise in 2025, with a staggering 74% of professionals seeking new job opportunities.
Confidence in the availability of job opportunities within specific sectors appears low, with only 35% feeling assured about the prospects. However, this has increased from 26% last year, signally candidate reassurance in the market with an optimistic outlook for 2025.
Regarding employers' intentions, a majority—72%—are planning to offer pay increases in 2025, up 10% from last year-indicating an increased prioritization of attraction and retention strategies. For many employers, the current rate of inflation has also been a key factor in increasing salaries. However, salaries alone are not enough – organizations must look to other methods of incentivization, including training opportunities to other employee benefits to really stand apart from the competition.
As strategies evolve to accommodate these trends, it becomes crucial for both employees and employers to navigate this dynamic landscape of pay expectations, career transitions, and sector-based job opportunities in the Canadian market of 2025.
