Our client is a global mining company headquartered in downtown Toronto. This position provides an opportunity to be an integral part in the company's accounting function and support global teams. This role requires hands-on experience with technical accounting, financial reporting under IFRS, and writing memos.
Responsibilities:
Support the monthly closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and analyzing variances to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with IFRS standards.
Draft comprehensive accounting memos to document and explain complex transactions, ensuring transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
Conduct thorough research and analysis of accounting issues, business transactions, and regulatory changes, providing insightful recommendations to management.
Collaborate with local finance teams to facilitate the transfer of financial data between systems, ensuring seamless integration and accuracy of information.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance internal controls, and improve efficiency within the finance department.
Partner with stakeholders across various departments to gather financial information, resolve accounting issues, and support business initiatives.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA designation (or similar or at least passed CFE).
Previous experience working in the firm environment, mining industry or related field.
Strong technical accounting skills with a thorough understanding of IFRS principles and regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work with complex financial data.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Spanish language is an asset.
